Paul Dempsey

I studied Business Studies in college and part of my business degree involved studying a number of legal subjects, which were always of particular interest to me. After qualifying with a BA (Hons) degree I worked for one of the world’s leading healthcare companies. However, I always felt drawn to the law and after a number of years I decided that a change of career was in order and began studying for the FE1 examinations.

I still vividly remember arriving into reception first thing in the morning and meeting 6 other nervous looking new trainees, none of us knowing what to expect. In my career in Eugene F. Collins, I have spent time in our Corporate, Banking, Property, Dispute Resolution and Immigration departments gaining valuable experience in each of these areas. As a trainee within Eugene F. Collins you can expect to be actively involved in complex, high value transactions for a variety of national and multinational clients. Looking back at my time as a trainee within the firm I feel that the training provided was second to none.

As an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department of Eugene F. Collins I have gained extensive experience in both Commercial and High Court litigation and in particular in advising on product liability and financial services litigation. I act for a wide range of small, medium and large commercial clients and individual clients in all aspects of litigation including contractual disputes, mortgage suits, property disputes, professional negligence claims and product liability claims. One of the most important lessons I have learned from working in Eugene F. Collins is to understand each particular clients’ specific needs to ensure that you are working towards delivering the desired result for the client. The Firm has enabled me to develop extensive legal skills and gain broad experience.

While working in a fast-moving environment can have its pressures I find that the Firm’s open door policy means that there is always a colleague available to offer some support or assistance, if and when required. The Firm also encourages a healthy work life balance and the social committee is always organising social events for all employees and encourage participation.
