Employment Seminar

30 September 2016

Join our Employment and Employee Benefits Group for a seminar that will address some of the issues we regularly advise our clients on.

  • With the publication, in August 2016, of the report of the Interdepartmental Group on Fuller Working Lives and changes to the Employment Equality Acts in January 2016, there is an increased focus on employees working for longer. We will consider the challenges for employers in balancing workplace requirements and the needs of employees as they reach retirement age.
  • There is an increased awareness of the role of whistle-blowers both in the workplace and in public life. We will update you on some recent cases in the Irish Courts, how whistle-blowing legislation has been used and what to do if an employee invokes the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 in internal processes.
  • Management of long term absence in the workplace requires a consideration of the employee’s health and well-being and their rights under Employment Equality law and the employer’s business requirements. We will review recent developments and provide practical guidance.

Speakers:
Maura Connolly, Partner and Head of Employment & Employee Benefits Group
Triona Sugrue, Associate and Paul Gough, Associate, Employment & Employee Benefits Group
