I graduated from Dublin City University with a BA in Economics Politics and Law in 2013. I went on to work as an intern and then legal executive in commercial law firms while studying for my FE-1s. When I completed the exams, I applied for the traineeship programme with Eugene F. Collins. I found the interview process friendly and relaxed. Emphasis was placed on the friendly, open door nature of working in the Eugene F. Collins which has always been my experience working here.
I completed my pre PPC1 rotation in the Dispute Resolution department. The Firms’ ethos is to fully integrate trainees into the cases they work on. I was involved in every step of the process and attended several client meetings, drafting proceedings and advices to clients and court appearances. The work is quite varied, my experience involved working on anything from District to Commercial Court cases which gives trainees the opportunity to fully experience working in a busy litigation department.
I have found everyone in Eugene F. Collins very approachable and always willing to take time out of their day to answer questions or give advice. The Firm puts great importance in training and development while also understanding the need for positive work life balance and employee wellbeing. The Firm has an active social committee with events throughout the year and offers employees yoga classes, Pilates and several other activities throughout the year which always create a great atmosphere around the office.
